New Alumni Room at Glencliff High School

In the middle of this summer's campaign craziness, I'm reminded of the many reasons why I serve on the Nashville School Board. Here are images I received yesterday from the MNPS Central Office depicting the finishing touches that soon will be put on the new Glencliff High School athletics complex -- including a new pavilion and alumni room, both of which I requested be added to the project in order to accommodate community and alumni events. When the entire project is completed, Glencliff will have a brand-new $2.7-million athletics complex, including the football field, state-of-the-art track, new concessions and restrooms, new bleachers, and the new alumni and community space. During my second term (if the voters allow me to serve again), one of my top priorities will be the complete renovation of Glencliff High School, which is projected to cost in excess of $30 million. I have worked -- and I hope to continue to work --with the school system's management and staff, the Mayor's Office, and the Metro Council to ensure that our kids in the Glencliff, Overton, and Antioch clusters have modern facilities to accelerate and facilitate teaching and learning. I believe world-class schools are vital to our neighborhoods and communities. Thanks to Debbie Young for her thought partnership on the pavilion and alumni room. Thanks to Mayor Megan Barry and Councilman Mike Freeman for their leadership (and funding!). And thanks to everyone who gives, or has given, of their time and energy to support the school community. Great things are happening at Glencliff!
